Tree Planting of the Micro-Forest

IFRC colleagues are invited to participate in the planting of a SUGI pocket forest in the IFRC Park in Geneva. Colleagues can select a 30 minute time slot in between 12h and 17h. Please scroll down and select different date to see options.

Covering 200m2, the pocket forest will include 350 shrubs and 250 native trees, planted at three plants per square meter. The trees come from Pépinière Genolier, locally collected Genevan seeds, and our organic-certified nursery in Bernex.
This forest follows the Miyawaki method, known for fast growth and high biodiversity.
Key Environmental benefits include:
Rapid growth - up to 1m per year
Improved air quality - COz storage, oxygen production, fine particle reduction
Temperature regulation - -2°C cooling effect in summer
